World Tourism Day 2017: Raising Awareness about Sustainable Tourism

The theme for World Tourism Day 2017, Sustainable Tourism draws attention to the contributions made by the industry towards economic, environmental and social development.

In the Maldives, the tourism and hospitality industry has grown considerably since the first tourists arrived in 1972. Now, the Maldives is one of the most popular holiday destinations, with notable contributions made over the years, to developing the key areas of sustainability for the country.

On September 27, 2017 and in celebration of these contributions, Champa Central will be hosting 24 students from the University of Maldives, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, on an informative Exposure Trip around the Hotel.

The group students will be exposed to the various departments at Champa Central like the Reservations, Housekeeping and Food & Beverage Departments and processes, to name a few.

This learning trip seeks to raise awareness about the importance of tourism in the Maldives, to encourage careers in the industry and to highlight sustainable tourism initiatives such as energy saving.
