In an interview with Hassan Shualhu, Reservations Manager at Champa Central Hotel, learn more about the ways in which our Hotel’s Reservation team goes out of their way to make your stay at Champa Central, truly special.

Shualhu was born and raised in Maradhoo Island, Addu atoll in the Maldives. He has graduated from the University of Mysore, India, completing 5 years integrated Masters in Tourism Administration. He has worked in Veligandu Island Resort & Spa, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives & Herathera Island Resort before joining Champa Central Hotel in 2015. 


Do you have a favorite spot within the Hotel? If yes, where?

Yes. My very favorite spot is at the Roof Top corner, where we view the spectacular sunset and whenever I get chance, I take photos of the sunset from this spot.

 

Describe your normal day at the Reservations Department?

A normal day starts with responding to mails received overnight and reserving rooms for the current day, which are mostly last minute. I then attend the morning meeting, have a tea break and attend to enquiries again. I also check the Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and update reservations system, then prepare daily, weekly & Monthly reports to send by the end of the day.

 

What are some of the special room requests that guests make?

The most common special request guests make is the high floor room with nice view.

 

Tell us about the service training you have with your team?

Since we are using new Property Management Software (PMS), we have regular in-house training and one-on-one training within the department. Other general training is scheduled for the next coming months

My team and I offer guests many options to enjoy their stay at CCH, where we have all types of excursions, Whale Submarine Dive, Scuba Diving and dining options. We often arrange visits to other Islands for our in-house guests as a courtesy service, which guests appreciate.
